CARE International report finds world’s biggest humanitarian disasters, aggravated by climate change, go virtually uncovered

A new report by CARE International finds that humanitarian crises in 2018, affecting millions of people around the world, garnered little media attention. Climate change, according to this report, “Suffering in Silence,” played a direct role in at least five of the 10 of the most underreported of these humanitarian catastrophes. These crises emphasize how the developing world is impacted by the effects of climate change earliest and hardest. The report indicates how climate change can reshape the security environment, and comes at a time when the U.S. has stepped back from global efforts to address climate change.
